The Carousel Dinner Theatre began operations in 1973 in a converted Ravenna, Ohio supermarket and the Carousel moved to its current Akron location at 1275 East Waterloo Road in March, 1988. In January, 2003 the partnership of Joe Palmer and David W. Slaght acquired the business.

Each musical is self produced using equity actors under the direction of an exceptional artistic team. During the past few years, new directors and designers have significantly raised the level of production values on stage and have caused a "buzz" in New York resulting in a higher caliber of actor wanting to work at the Carousel.  This coupled with newer musicals being released to regional theatres gives cause for a whole lot of excitement and fun. There is always something happening at the Carousel.

A season formula was developed calling for one musical review, three new musicals and two favorites per season. If you haven't seen the Carousel lately, you haven't seen the Carousel. We have not just broken, but crashed through all barriers on our way to becoming the top musical theatre in our region.

Let's take a journey that will allow you to visualize your experience at the Carousel. As you enter our property you see a spacious parking lot and park for free. When you enter the theatre, you are greeted and escorted to your table. The New York Supper Club atmosphere may prompt a smile or at least confirmation that the right decision has been made. The attentiveness of our service staff will cause you to relax and provide guidance as to your entrée selection either from our main menu, or for an increased charge, an item for the Producer's menu. Enjoy fresh fish, vegetables and a delicious meal prepared by our certified executive chef. You will also be tempted by a full appetizer and dessert menu. And, if you care for a martini or other drinks, we have full bar service. Then the curtain rises and it is time to sit back and enjoy a musical equal to any touring production you will see in the area.

Patrons can enjoy Dinner and Show for one low ticket price or take advantage of Show Only Tickets. The entire building is non-smoking.

Red carpet treatment awaits motorcoach tour groups - the underpinning of the Carousel business. Upon arrival, all motorcoaches are personally greeted by management staff. We love motorcoaches and adore the guests that come with the coaches. Carousel's Group Sales Department works closely with all groups and can provide overnight entertainment packages from one to three nights that include Northeast Ohio's finest hotels and popular attractions.

The State of Ohio, as well as the Akron community, has welcomed the Carousel as a vital force for tourism... with its proven track record of group tour business from across the country and Canada, as well as international travelers. As a destination or overnight stop, the Carousel location at 1275 East Waterloo Road in Akron - just off Route 224 and Interstate 77 (only miles from Interstate 76 and the Ohio Turnpike) - makes the Carousel accessible for those traveling near Northeast Ohio. The Carousel has, year after year, been voted as the top motorcoach attraction in Ohio and the top entertainment value in Akron. Learn How to Get Here!
