Singin' In The Rain
November 8, 2006 - January 6, 2007
A SPLASH OF FUN FOR THE HOLIDAYS!
Rain and Holiday spirit will pour at the Carousel in one of the greatest musicals of all time! SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN, which has spanned generations, is the hottest ticket for November and December in Ohio. Director Marc Robin who has directed the crowd favorites, CATS, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, and SWING! will be at it again, with no exceptions. Robin will stage this production to emulate the film version rather than the 1985 Broadway rendition. Look forward to an exciting “Beautiful Girls” number and a bright and energetic “Broadway Melody.” “Broadway Melody” will showcase the dance, including tap which is prevalent throughout the show.
Are you brave enough for the “Rain Zone?” If you can handle it, ask for the front rows of ‘A’ ‘B’ or ‘C’. During the reminiscent “Singin’ in the Rain” number guests in these sections will be asked to put on their ponchos (provided by the Carousel), because they may get wet! What a great way to experience the thrill of this production!
In the story that takes place in 1927, the historical transition between silent film and talkies, silent film stars, Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont (rumored to be engaged in the tabloids), are about to produce their next big picture together, when plans suddenly change. Talkies are all the range and “The Dueling Cavalier” will be disastrous unless they can pull off many changes. Ms. Lamont’s voice is high-pitched and does not match her beauty. In fact she is the role model for the term “dumb blond.” Don Lockwood can dance, really dance, and so can his buddy, Cosmo. Don is attracted to Kathy Selden, a terrific singer and dancer in the shadow of Lina. Can Don think of a way to turn disaster into success and still find true love?
Now doesn’t this scream at you to grab your spouse, friend, or family to come to the Carousel to celebrate the holidays in a fun, splashing and exciting manner? Order your tickets now!
